West Virginia's disabled veterans know that the amount of money they receive in disability benefits is often not enough to survive on. Those veterans who are still able to work may not always be able to find a job. In an effort to get disabled veterans jobs, President Barack Obama is calling on companies to hire veterans with disabilities and promoting a new program that gives businesses tax credits for hiring veterans.

In October, the U.S. Department of Labor reported that the nationwide unemployment rate for veterans was around 12 percent. Individual states have seen even higher unemployment rates for disabled veterans, some reaching as high as 18 or 20 percent.
